When you become pregnant

After a hospital confirms your pregnancy, please come to the Maternal and Child Health Section to report your pregnancy.After the submission of the notification,You will receive a Mother and Child Health Handbook and health checkup coupons.
The Mother and Child Health Handbook is an important book (small book) that helps you keep track of your pregnancy, childbirth, your baby’s health checkups, vaccinations and health status which are needed information until he/she becomes an adult.
This handbook is available in many foreign languages (English, Korean, Chinese, Tagalog, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese and Nepali) for our foreign residents.
As for the health checkup coupons, you can use these coupons when visiting a hospital from the period of your pregnancy until your child is eleven months’ old.
Hours and locations for receiving the items
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m.to 5 p.m., Maternal and Child Health Section (Health Center 1F)
- Sunday, 8:30 a.m.to 5 p.m., Child Services Section (City Hall 2F)
Note: The reception is until 4:30 p.m.
Closed on Saturday, national holidays, and December 29th to January 3rd.
What to bring
- Documentation that confirms your pregnancy (patient ID card, receipts, health checkup appointment slips and the like from your obstetrician/gynecologist)
- My Number card (individual number card)
- Bank account passbook or ATM cash card (needed in order to apply for receiving the allowance of pregnancy)
If you do not have a My Number card, please bring the following two items.
- My Number notification card or a copy of your residence record that shows your individual number
- Personal identification (driver’s license, passport, residence card, etc.)
